Operation Make Epic Wedding Dress PHASE ONE: Complete.
Objective: create model of own torso out of duct tape, cardboard, stuffing.
STEPS
1. Get completely fed up with trying to build clothing on own body. Resolve to make dress form using tactic seen successfully executed by friends many years ago.
2. Buy trash bags, clean out local drug store supply of duct tape. If entire supply is fluorescent pink: BONUS.
3. Strip to underwear. Wrap one large trash bag around waist as skirt, another around torso as poncho.
4. Cover belly, breasts, thighs and butt entirely in strips of duct tape. Do not wrap tape around and around; instead, tear strips slightly wider than torso and place them flat across either back or front, allowing ends of tape to fall naturally where they will.
5. Realize you are sucking in belly. Stop sucking in belly.
6. Attempt to place duct tape on own shoulder blades. (Conclusion: this is impossible.)
7. Improvise. Create cross of tape on back through complicated arm gestures. Give up; decide to fix later. (Note to self: next time, buddy system.)
8. Stop sucking in belly.
9. Add more tape in places where weird bumps have formed. Run out of pink; switch to blue.
10. Cut line down front of duct tape form, careful not to cut through bra or underwear. Realize holy shit it is sweltering to be wrapped in plastic bags and duct tape. Insides of bags are now weird and slippery from being covered in sweat.
11. Wriggle out of duct tape awkwardly, collapse, drink water. Dehydration is happening!
12. Once recovered: line up seams where tape has been cut, tape back together.
13. Spread open bottom of model, guesstimate size and shape of bottom cross section.
14. Cut cross section out of cardboard. Start too big and whittle down fiddly bits until cardboard sits tightly inside duct tape. Tape cardboard to model form, closing off the bottom of the model.
15. Realize you have forgotten to buy stuffing. Cannibalize old pillows for stuffing.
16. Stuff model through neck opening, building up from the bottom. Pack stuffing tightly and evenly, watching for places that look saggy. Attempt to eyeball proper body shape and keep model from becoming more round than you actually are. (Bodies are weirdly flat from the side sometimes.)
17. Build stuffing up to level of breasts and still-untapped back. Gently fill top of model with loose stuffing. Close up back sections.
18. Accidentally open a pillow stuffed with feathers instead of poly. OH SHIT FEATHERS EVERYWHERE.
19. Battle feathers.
20. Control feathers.
21. Run out of blue duct tape. Switch to gold.
22. Slowly close up arm holes and shoulders, while adding more stuffing and packing into previously overlooked bulges.
23. Run put of gold duct tape. Switch to penguins.
24. Adjust final stuffing. Check for any soft or saggy places.
25. Close up final hole in neck.
26. Clean off feathers. Cough up feathers.
27. Success! Torso model complete.
28. Take photos. Compare self and model in mirror. Weird. Weird.
29. Post successful completion of phase one to Tumblr.
30. Profit.

Next up is PHASE TWO: Design The Heck Out Of Things.
